As a rising senior in college, one lesson I learned throughout my time teaching at The Veritas Schools continues to guide me: “love first, teach second.”

Over the past two weeks, I had the privilege of teaching Formal Public Forum Debate to an incredible group of scholars. Watching them grow in confidence, critical thinking, and public speaking has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my journey. Their willingness to learn, challenge themselves, and find their voices made me proud every step of the way.

I am so privileged to have been able to work with the best of the best Fatmata Bah, Suraya Khoja, Hamilton Henderson, Suhailah Owuo-Hagood, Ire Fajimi, Elana Gardner, Sire Washington, Isaiah Stephens, Sarah Hargrove.

A special thank you to Brandon P. Fleming, Tameka Thomas, Ed.S. and Jacquelyn Berry for your mentorship and commitment to developing the next generation of leaders.

To my scholars, the Class of 2026: thank you for reminding me that education is about more than teaching content… it’s about empowering others to recognize their potential and giving them the confidence to pursue it. I can’t wait to see all that you accomplish.
