Evan has grown not only through his intellectual curiosity and analytical ability, but also through a meaningful evolution in his confidence and self-advocacy.
At the outset, Evan approached discussions with a strong sense of courtesy and respect for others—often allowing peers to speak first and prioritizing harmony in group dialogue. While admirable, this occasionally limited his willingness to interject and fully express his own perspective.
Over the course of the program, Evan demonstrated a notable shift. He came to understand that diplomacy is not synonymous with silence, and that advocating for one’s ideas can be done with both confidence and respect. He learned that actively engaging in discourse—thoughtfully entering conversations, building on others’ ideas, and articulating his own viewpoints—is not only appropriate but essential.
A key driver of this growth was Evan’s commitment to reading and preparation. He increasingly leveraged reading as a tool to refine his thinking, expand his vocabulary, and strengthen his ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity and precision. This intellectual discipline translated directly into more confident participation and more persuasive contributions.
Throughout the program, Evan has developed a balanced presence: a student who listens with intention, speaks with purpose, and contributes with both conviction and respect. His growth in self-advocacy, combined with his natural thoughtfulness, positions him to be an effective leader and collaborator in any academic or professional setting.
